No. Zap does not do wildlife control. We handle insects, spiders, termites, and rats and mice, but not animals like raccoons, opossums, skunks, squirrels or birds.

What areas do you serve?

Greater Sacramento and Northern California, including Sacramento, Roseville, Elk Grove, Folsom, Davis, Stockton, Napa and many more cities. See our service areas page for the full list.

Termites and fumigation

Do you treat both subterranean and drywood termites?

Yes. We treat both. Subterranean termites come up from the soil, so treatment focuses on the soil and entry points. Drywood termites live in the wood, so treatment is either local to the infested wood or a whole-structure fumigation, depending on how far they have spread.

How do I know which kind of termite I have?

Mud tubes on the foundation or walls usually point to subterranean termites. Small piles of hard, seed-shaped pellets near wood usually point to drywood termites. An inspection confirms which type you have and where the activity is.

Does every drywood termite problem need fumigation?

No. If the activity is limited and the wood can be reached, a local treatment may be enough. Fumigation is recommended when colonies are spread through areas that cannot be reached. We explain the reasons for our recommendation after the inspection.

Do I have to leave my home during fumigation?

Yes. People, pets and plants must stay out of the structure while it is under the tent and until it has been tested and cleared for re-entry.

How do I prepare my home for fumigation?

Before your fumigation, we send a full prep sheet that walks you through everything step by step. Our team is with you the whole way to answer any questions.

What do drywood termite pellets look like?

They are tiny, hard, six-sided pellets, about the size of a grain of sand, in colors from tan to dark brown. They often collect in small piles below infested wood.

What are mud tubes?

Mud tubes are small tunnels made of soil and saliva that subterranean termites build to travel from the ground to wood while staying protected from dry air.

Real estate WDO reports

How fast will I get the WDO report?

We deliver the WDO report within 24 hours of the inspection, so your escrow can keep moving.

What is the difference between Section 1 and Section 2?

Section 1 lists active infestation or infection and the damage it caused. Section 2 lists conditions likely to lead to infestation or infection if not corrected, such as leaks or wood touching soil.

Is the report filed with the state?

Yes. California WDO reports are filed with the Structural Pest Control Board.

Can you also do the repairs listed on the report?

Yes. Zap does every repair it recommends on its WDO reports, including termite treatment, fumigation and wood repair. Ask about the specific items on your report when you call.

Can Zap do the repairs on the report?

Yes. Zap does every repair it recommends on its WDO reports, including termite treatment, fumigation, wood repair and dry rot repair, and then issues the completion notice.

Rodents and general pests

Do you just set traps, or do you seal entry points too?

We do both. We remove the rodents that are inside, and we seal the entry points we find to help keep rats and mice out. Sealing is what helps prevent new rodents from moving in.

Do you remove raccoons, squirrels or other wildlife?

No. Zap does not do wildlife control. We handle rats and mice. If you are not sure what is in your attic, call us and describe what you are seeing.

What pests are covered by general pest control?

General pest service covers common household pests such as ants, spiders, cockroaches, silverfish, earwigs, crickets and pillbugs. Termites, bed bugs and rodents are handled as their own services.

Do you offer recurring pest service?

Yes. Recurring service is available for homes and businesses. Call (916) 999-9747 to talk about what fits your property.

How do I manage my recurring service?

Recurring customers can use our customer portal at zappest.pestconnect.com to manage their service. You can also call the office Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.

Do you treat flies?

We treat flies for commercial customers, such as restaurants and other businesses.

Where do black widows hide?

Low, dark, undisturbed spots: garage corners, meter and sprinkler boxes, woodpiles, block walls, under outdoor furniture and inside stored pots.

Bed bugs and cockroaches

How do I know if I have bed bugs?

Look for small dark spots, shed skins and eggs along mattress seams, the box spring and furniture joints, plus live flat, reddish brown bugs. Bites alone are not proof, so an inspection is the surest way to confirm.

Do bed bugs mean my home is dirty?

No. Bed bugs travel in luggage, furniture and clothing, and they feed on people, not dirt or food scraps. Clean homes and nice hotels can both have them.

Why are follow-up visits needed?

Bed bug eggs can hatch after the first treatment. Follow-up visits let us check the treated areas and treat any new activity before it builds back up.

Why did the roaches come back after I sprayed?

Store-bought sprays usually only reach the roaches you see, and German cockroach eggs can hatch after a treatment. Treatment placed where they hide, with follow-up when needed, is more effective.

Commercial service

Do you work with restaurants?

Yes. We provide pest service for restaurants and other food businesses, with a focus on cockroaches, rodents, ants and flies in kitchens, storage and dining areas.

Can you service multiple properties for a property manager?

Yes. We work with property managers on apartments, condos and commercial buildings, including common areas, individual units and exteriors.

Do commercial properties get special hours?

Yes. Commercial properties can arrange special service hours. Call (916) 999-9747 to set them up.
